Structural engineering, from design to site

Design, BIM coordination and technical review for architects and contractors — backed by experience on large-scale projects in Norway.

Who will handle your structure

I'm Danilo Orbolato, a structural engineer with a BSc in Structural Engineering from the University of Stavanger, Norway. I hold Brazilian and Norwegian citizenship.

I spent around two and a half years as a prosjektingeniør (project engineer) at two Norwegian firms, on high-complexity projects — some of them in Tiltaksklasse III, the highest technical-responsibility class in Norwegian construction. My work was BIM coordination, technical review of structural design, quality, and the interface between design and site.

Now based in inland São Paulo, I work with Brazilian architects and contractors and with European firms remotely.

What I do

Structural engineering services for those who design and those who build.

Structural design

Concrete, steel and timber — from structural concept to construction documentation, designed and checked to the applicable codes.

More

BIM coordination

Model integration, clash detection and resolution across architecture, structure and services.

More

Technical review

Independent review of calculation reports and models, material optimization and review of design assumptions.

More

Engineered timber

CLT and glulam systems — concept design, connections, serviceability and detailing for construction.

More

Project engineering

Technical control, discipline coordination, quality and change management — in Norwegian or English.

Bjelland AS · 2020–2021 — multidisciplinary BIM coordination and technical review of the structural design.

Hospital · Norway

Nye SUS — university hospital

Stavanger's new university hospital. 125,000 m², multiple phases and disciplines in constant coordination.

NorDan Rubicon AS · 2021–2023 — project engineering, BIM coordination, compliance and change orders.

Bridge · Bachelor thesis

Bridge material optimization

Redesign of a bridge superstructure, in cooperation with Statens vegvesen, reducing material use while keeping all code limit states satisfied.

University of Stavanger · 2020 — bachelor thesis, authored by me. Grade: A.

Commercial + infrastructure · Norway

Commercial buildings and urban works

Several concurrent contracts around Stavanger, with different teams and suppliers on interlocking schedules.

Bjelland AS · NorDan Rubicon AS · 2020–2023 — technical review, model coordination, quality and documentation.

How I work

From first contact to proposal, with nothing left vague.

  1. You send the material

Drawings, model, area and timeline — whatever you have.

  2. I assess the scope

I identify what needs to be designed or reviewed, and the structural assumptions.

  3. You get the proposal

Scope, deliverables, timeline and fee, defined before we start.

Engagement

In Brazil

Design in partnership with a registered engineer

In Brazil, structural design is developed in partnership with a CREA-registered engineer, who is technically responsible for the project and signs the ART. While my diploma revalidation at UFPR is in progress, this keeps two engineers on every project: a responsible engineer, and me — on development, coordination and review.

Peer review built into the process.

International / remote

Direct engagement

In Norwegian or English: Eurocode-based structural design, BIM coordination, technical review and remote project engineering, with a structured approach to quality and documentation.

Working hours overlap with Europe during the Brazilian morning.

He is self-motivated, very lively and is capable of strenuous work. He worked enthusiastically and co-operatively with every member involved in the assigned activities, and ensured very high output. I therefore highly recommend him to enroll any duty in the field of Structural Engineering.
